Fun Summer Activities for You and Your Dog!

Summer is a time for dogs and their humans to shake off the lazy haze of winter and get out for some fun! Many lucky pets and pet owners were able to attend the "Pawsitively Summer" event this past July. Hosted in the home of the Golden State Warriors at Thrive City, this event series was packed with summer fun for pets and their families.

Pooches and their families indulged in pup-a-ccinos, browsed a pet food truck, made personalized bandannas, and captured memories of the day in the "paw-parazzi" photo booth. Talk about the perfect showcase for pet-friendly summer activities. Humans and dogs alike gathered together for fun in the sun. And when we talk about bringing people and pets together, nothing does that better than puppies. The puppy playpen provided by Puppy Love™ at the "Pawsitively Summer" event was an absolute favorite — and it's easy to understand why!

Perhaps the pinnacle of cuteness, our adoptable puppies can't help but draw people and pets in for a snuggle or some playful puppy time. Puppy Love 's participation in the event, and others like it, is guaranteed to bring people together.

With the "Pawsitively Summer" event behind us and cooler weather fast approaching, here are a few ways to stretch out the summer fun with the last hot days of the year.

Water Games

A kiddie pool is not just a perfect summer toy for kids. Your dog will also love splashing in the water and cooling down with water games. For dogs that love the cold, you might just fill a kiddie pool with ice!

Fresh and Frozen Treats

We all enjoy a refreshing summer treat. Whether you are taking advantage of the seasonal fruit that is in abundance this time of year or whipping up some refreshing iced drinks, don't forget your furry pal. Dogs also love a good treat, and many healthy summer snacks are suitable for pets.

Watermelon, blueberries, cantaloupe, and peaches are all perfectly pet-friendly fruit snacks — just remove any seeds or pits first! For particularly hot days, try freezing some small chunks of fruit for Fido to gnaw on.

Hit the Trails and Parks

Getting outside and taking in as much fresh air and sunshine as possible will never get old for your dog. Time in nature is more than just fun. It's also good for your pup's health. Meeting other dogs and giving their nose a workout with all the smells they're exposed to benefits a dog's well-being. As the weather cools, this is an activity you can keep doing, too.

Capture the Memories

We loved the idea of the "paw-parrazi" booth at the "paw-sitively summer" event. You are the paw-parrazi for your doggie, so remember to capture all the special moments with plenty of photos. As the weather grows chilly and you spend more time indoors, you and your pup may even have fun with a photoshoot!

The bonding and the physical activity of getting out and enjoying fun-filled days with your pup is not just a way to pass the time. It's how you build a life. These activities will enhance mental and physical health and well-being for the whole family. So go on and live it up with your little pup.
