Puppy Love Brings Healing And Hope To Aya Healthcare’s Wellness Fair

At Aya Healthcare’s annual Wellness Fair in San Diego, the day was already designed to help employees feel cared for. Massages, smoothies, aromatherapy, and wellness resources gave the event a relaxed, restorative feel. Then the rescue puppies arrived, and the room found a whole new kind of joy.

Puppy Love joined Aya’s employee wellness celebration with an adorable group of terrier and Chihuahua mixes, along with one especially irresistible eight-week-old chocolate Labrador named Rufus. Aya has a strong community of dog lovers, and it did not take long for the puppy pen to become one of the most talked-about stops of the day.

For many attendees, a few minutes with the puppies offered a break from the usual workday. Coworkers gathered around the pen, shared laughs, traded pet stories, and enjoyed the simple comfort that comes from a warm puppy cuddle. The event had all the happy energy you would expect from a Puppy Love experience, but one moment made the day especially unforgettable.

A Promise That Changed With Rufus

Taylor, an Aya employee, had lost her beloved chocolate Lab the year before. The loss had been devastating, and she made a promise to herself that she would never get another dog. Her heart had been through enough.

Her coworkers knew her story, so they quickly began telling her about Rufus. He was tiny, sweet, and full of that classic Labrador charm. At first, Taylor stayed away from the puppy pen. With only about 30 minutes remaining, though, she decided to take a look.

Taylor stepped into the pen and picked Rufus up. In a matter of moments, the room felt different. She held the little chocolate Lab close as tears ran down her cheeks, but she was smiling too. Her coworkers stood nearby, offering encouragement and sharing in the moment. Somewhere between the puppy kisses and the quiet snuggles, the promise she had made after losing her dog began to soften.

Taylor filled out an adoption application and took Rufus home that afternoon. There was not a dry eye in the house.

Support That Reached Beyond The Event

The adoption story was already enough to make the day special, but the generosity kept going. One Aya attendee asked if the rescue partner could use donations of dog food. The answer was an immediate yes.

The rescue supports a network of animals across the border and is always in need of supplies. That attendee’s husband worked at Royal Canin and shared that they had more than 100 pounds of dog food available to donate. The rescue team was overwhelmed with gratitude.

Moments like these show why Puppy Love events matter. They create a space where people can relax and feel supported, while also giving rescue puppies the chance to socialize, build confidence, and meet potential forever families. They also introduce caring employees to rescue partners doing important work in the community every day.

A Day Full Of Puppy Love

Aya Healthcare’s Wellness Fair was a beautiful reminder that healing can show up in unexpected ways. It can happen during a massage or a smoothie break. It can happen when coworkers gather around someone who needs a little encouragement. Sometimes, it arrives in the form of an eight-week-old chocolate Lab named Rufus.

We are so grateful to Aya Healthcare for welcoming Puppy Love into their Wellness Fair and creating a day filled with connection, care, and plenty of puppy joy. Congratulations to Taylor and Rufus on their new life together, and thank you to every Aya employee who helped make this event one to remember.
